Intel Quick Sync
Intel Quick Sync Makes Video Conversion Blinding Fast in DVDFab
While talking about video conversion solutions, excellent video quality is always the first and foremost priority, and then there comes the conversion speed. Hence, how fast can a solution solve users’ problems and in the meantime retain the best quality decides whether that solution can be eventually applied. However, as far as video conversion is concerned, conventional belief has it that speed is the first enemy of video quality, which means, the faster the conversion goes, the poorer the image quality shall become. That deep rooted concept has been printed in people’s minds for decades until the emergence and rise of hardware accelerations. There are many ways to accelerate a video conversion process, you can replace an outdated video card with the latest NVIDIA CUDA or NVENC capable video card, or you can usher in Intel’s Quick Sync Video technology.
What is Intel Quick Sync and how it works
Intel Quick Sync Video uses the dedicated media processing capabilities of Intel® Graphics Technology to make media processing, and video creation and conversion fast and easy. With it you can create and edit 3D videos, convert video for your portable media player and for uploading to share with your friends. Video content is typically compressed and encoded into a specific format when it is stored on hard drives, DVDs, camcorders, cell phones, or broadcast media. When you want to play that content, upload it online, or copy it to your phone, it must first be decoded and then re-encoded in a new format, a resource- and time-intensive process. Intel Quick Sync Video uses the dedicated media processing capabilities of Intel® Graphics Technology to decode and encode fast, while also enabling the processor to complete other tasks, providing excellent PC performance and responsiveness.

In order to make the conversion speed go faster so that end users can save a lot of their priceless time, developers work days and nights to usher in the support to the Intel Quick Sync Video technology in its conversion relevant products, including DVD Ripper, Blu-ray Copy, Blu-ray Ripper, Blu-ray to DVD Converter, DVD to Blu-ray Converter and Video Converter, to make them perform significantly faster at video decoding and encoding.
How to enable Intel Quick Sync in DVDFab
Keep in mind, the support of Intel Quick Sync technology varies from one processor to another, and the decoding and encoding settings depend on what kind of video sources users are about to handle. Please refer to the list below when specifying the decoder and encoder settings to enable Intel Quick Sync support at Common Settings > A/V Codec panel.
6th generation Skylake series processors: Support to decode H.264, MPEG2 and H.265 video sources and encode to H.264 and H.265 videos;
4th and 5th generation processors with integrated HD graphics 5500/5000/4600/4400, Iris graphics 5100 or Iris Pro graphics 5200: Support to decode H.264, MPEG2 and H.265 video sources and encode to H.264 videos;
2nd, 3rd and not mentioned 4th and 5th generation processors: Support to decode H.264 and MPEG2 video sources and encode to H.264 videos;
How fast can Intel Quick Sync improve the conversion speed, we have a comparison table below for your reference. Please be aware the data in the chart is based on the system configurations of our testing machines, users may get different results depending their own system configurations.

4K Acceleration in the UHD Copy and Conversion
If your computers are equipped with the video cards that are capable of 4K HEVC 10-bit decoding and encoding, such as the HD series from the Kaby Lake processor series and above, the time consumption in the UHD Copy and UHD Ripper modules can be greatly shortened from 20+ hours to around 1 hour, even less.
