My Thoughts about IT [Spolier!]

I mistakenly thought I had seen this a long time ago, only to discover that it was a television series from 1990. I was somewhat surprised, as it is quite an old piece of work.

What makes it so memorable and gives it a timeless quality is that it revolves around the protagonist’s childhood. People can easily connect with stories about boys and girls, especially if they are close in age to the main characters—be it 12 or 42 years old.

A significant factor contributing to its impact is the presence of Pennywise, also known as "It." I still can't shake the haunting image of him crawling out of the storm drain and the visuals resembling a gigantic glowing insect.

There’s a particular scene that stands out in my memory: a delinquent boy getting gruesomely dragged into the sewers, leaving me uncertain whether to laugh or to be horrified.

After 27 years, the story was revived in 2017 with the film “It: Chapter One.” Bill had stopped being a writer, Richie wasn’t a stand-up comedian anymore, and Beverly was no longer entangled with her abuser. The absence of a bloody phrase at the end of the story diminished the impact of the symbolic blood. It's a bit disappointing.

Nonetheless, the movie “It: Chapter One” narrates an adventure between boys and girls and is fundamentally about friendship and bravery. The adult scenes were completely cut, allowing for a more detailed portrayal of the childhood segments.

As this film is the first chapter, we can expect the second installment to be on the horizon. I'm eager to see how they will handle the second part, as the 1990 version was somewhat less impressive in that regard.
