  • Personal Archiving: Creating digital backups of physical media (DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD) to protect against damage, loss, or degradation.
  • Interoperability: Converting media into different formats to ensure compatibility across personal devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, TVs).
  • Time-Shifting: Downloading or recording streaming content for offline viewing at a convenient time, similar to the function of a DVR (Digital Video Recorder).

2. Copyright Compliance (Disc & Media Backup)

DVDFab respects intellectual property rights and strictly prohibits the use of our Software for any form of digital piracy.

  • Ownership Requirement: You may only use this Software to copy, back up, or convert media content that you legally own or have successfully purchased.
  • No Circumvention for Profit: While our Software may possess technical capabilities to process encrypted data for the purpose of interoperability and backup, it is strictly forbidden to use these capabilities to infringe upon copyright laws for commercial gain.
  • Prohibition on Rentals: You must not use the Software to copy media that you have rented, borrowed, or do not permanently own.

3. Streaming and Downloading Services

Regarding our streaming downloader product lines (e.g., StreamFab, MusicFab):

  • Third-Party Accounts: The Software does not provide access to any paid streaming services. Users must possess a valid, active subscription to the respective streaming platforms to use the download functions.
  • No Affiliation: DVDFab is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any third-party streaming platforms (such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Spotify, etc.). All trademarks and logos belong to their respective owners.
  • Content Rights: You agree that any content downloaded is for private, personal viewing only. You shall not redistribute, broadcast, or share the downloaded files on any public platform or file-sharing network.

4. User Responsibilities & Local Laws

Copyright laws vary significantly by jurisdiction (e.g., the "Fair Use" doctrine in the United States, "Private Copying" exceptions in parts of Europe, and strict anti-circumvention laws in Japan).

  • Jurisdictional Compliance: DVDFab operates globally and cannot monitor the laws of every user's location. It is the sole responsibility of the user to consult their local laws (such as the DMCA in the US, Copyright Law in Japan, or Directive 2001/29/EC in the EU) to ensure their use of the Software is legal.

Under no circumstances shall the Software be used for commercial purposes. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using the Software to provide a paid conversion or backup service.
  • Distributing the output files publicly or hosting them on servers for public access.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Software is provided on an "AS IS" basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

  • Updates & Changes: Due to the rapidly changing nature of digital rights management (DRM) and streaming protocols, DVDFab does not guarantee that the Software will always work with every specific disc title or streaming website update.
  • Limitation of Liability: In no event shall DVDFab be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages whatsoever (including damages for loss of business profits, business interruption, or loss of business information) arising out of the use of or inability to use the Software.
